“A team of experts is working to resolve this as quickly as possible,” a bank spokesperson said.
“We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience this is causing and want to reassure customers it is our absolute priority to resolve this.”
Problem reports spiked on outage tracker downdetector.com to a peak of almost 8000 about 2.20pm.
Callers on Melbourne radio station 3AW reported problems early in the afternoon, on what is a public holiday in Victoria.
“I just jumped onto [my internet banking] online on my phone, and it kept coming up saying there was an error,” said talkback caller Paul said before 3pm.
“So I thought I’d jump onto it on the laptop – and then it said it had locked my account out. [I] tried to call them and it said they couldn’t receive calls in that area at the moment.”
