Mysterious abandoned F1 car graveyard with Michael Schumacher’s Benetton and legendary Lotus …but not all is as it seems | The Sun

A FACEBOOK user discovered an abandoned F1 car graveyard with Michael Schumacher’s Benetton and the legendary Lotus 79 – but there is a twist.

The user, who lives in France,  posted pictures of the cars online and said he found them near her home.

The pictures from 2021 show five abandoned F1 cars kept on a trailer at an isolated location.

In the Facebook post, he wrote: “Found this yesterday, not far from home.

“Caught me behind the bush…by the way they are up for sale.”

According to the user, the cars were up for sale with a price tag of around £50,000.

At a glance, these cars look genuinely real  – especially the all-black Lotus 79 and the Michael Schumacher’s B195 finished in blue.

They even had original decals and brand sponsors on their bodies that made them look even more genuine.

However, the picture is not what it seems like.

These are not real F1 cars and were never used for an official race.

A French company called Team Les Galapaits built these F1 replicas for teenagers.

Instead of an actual F1 engine like a V10, these were installed with 2CV motorbike engines and were used in Circuit Pierre Monnier in Grenoble, France – according to a user online.

A later online update by another user confirmed that all the cars have now been sold.
