<\/p>\nA MAN said he has been forced to live in his VW Passat to survive despite working seven days a week. <\/p>\n
Nick Andrew ditched his rented house to live in his car to cut down on costs and save up – but he said he still has bills to pay.<\/p>\n

The former teacher decided to quit the classroom to pursue his long-time dream of becoming a professional musician. <\/p>\n
Despite working as a guitarist on various gigs, he couldn't make ends meet. <\/p>\n
He then took the life-changing decision of moving into his VW<\/span> Passat.<\/p>\n Nick told The Guardian: "I planned it as a\u00a0brief cost-cutting experiment.<\/p>\n "I realised that I had to change my life, and the cheapest option was\u00a0being permanently on the road."<\/p>\n But the life inside the Passat doesn't come easy. <\/p>\n With just a roof and doors as walls, the rock guitarist doesn't have a toilet, bedroom or a kitchen. <\/p>\n Inside the vehicle he calls home, he plugs a kettle into the cigarette lighter and uses the back-seat as a "bedroom".<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Nick only has a bean bag behind the driver's seat, pillows to level out the back bench, bungee ropes, gardening wire, torches and some fetching bed linen.<\/p>\n He said: "As for hygiene, I use gyms, friends' houses or shower in the music studios where I work. <\/p>\n "If\u00a0I'm desperate, I can wash my pants, socks or jeans in my shower.<\/p>\n "This works only in the height of summer, because they have to dry in the car."<\/p>\n If he needs to use the toilet, he rushes to the nearest public area – as there is no running water, electricity or refrigeration.<\/p>\n During the summer he risks roasting under the early-morning sun and in the winter he freezes on -17C nights under his bedclothes. <\/p>\n Despite sacrificing comfort for money, Nick claimed he still has to pay bills. <\/p>\n "It is not paradise: I still work seven days a week, and there are still bills to pay," he added. <\/p>\n However, he said there are positive things about living on the move. <\/p>\n The musician described his nomadic lifestyle a "heaven from the outside world" and said he can practise guitar late without nightmare neighbours disturbing him. <\/p>\n He added: "I see no reason to end my lifestyle unless I'm going to go home to someone."<\/p>\n Nick encouraged others to follow his path and leave the "nine-to-five machine" if they want to save up a fortune. <\/p>\n He said: "In my case, as fewer and fewer people see the need to pay for music, I struggle to earn enough to eat, let alone save for\u00a0anything."<\/p>\n It comes as another man who moved into his car after his landlord hiked the rent revealed he's living off tuna and protein bars.<\/p>\n Tiktoker\u00a0NomadicRyan took to the social media site to explain how he lives inside his vehicle.<\/p>\nRead More Motors<\/h2>\n
