<\/p>\nAN ELDERLY driver was left fuming after another motorist's 'selfish' parking act left him struggling to get in his car.<\/p>\n
John Laine, 71, had parked in a disabled parking spot in the Campbelltown Mall carpark in Sydney's south-west.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But upon returning to his vehicle, he was met with a huge shock.<\/p>\n
Someone had wedged their own car in between his vehicle and another car that occupied the adjoining disability parking space.<\/p>\n
As a result, they had left their car parked over the dividing line between the two spaces and with little room for Mr Laine to manoeuvre.<\/p>\n
The elderly driver decided to take photos and shared them to Instagram to vent his frustrations over the "idiotic" act.<\/p>\n
"When I came back the other two cars were there and what annoyed me was the fact that the first white car next to me was actually on the dividing line between those two parking bays," he told Yahoo.<\/p>\n "What an idiot."<\/p>\n "I actually use a walking frame to walk but there was no space, I struggled to get into my car."<\/p>\n However, Mr Laine's blood would boil even more after what he saw next.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n In a shocking twist, the vehicle had a disability parking permit on display.<\/p>\n The elderly motorist claims he informed Campbelltown Council and police over the matter, but was told it was an issue to be sorted out by the shopping centre.<\/p>\n Mr Laine blasted authorities for failing to prevent drivers from taking up the extra space in between disabled parking bays.<\/p>\n He said disabled parking spaces need to be protected from being misused to ensure people with disabilities are not inconvenienced.<\/p>\n According to disability activist and award winning safety speaker James Wood,it's not uncommon for motorists to take up the space in between disability parking spaces.<\/p>\n Drivers have been warned they can be fined a whopping \u00a31,000 for parking in a disabled bay, even if they have a badge.<\/p>\n There are a number of ways drivers can "misuse" their blue badge without even realising it – which can land them in hot water.<\/p>\n Elsewhere, a furious parking row broke out in a quiet neighbourhood and both sides think they\u2019re in the right.<\/p>\n One resident has left a note on a car windscreen slamming the \u201cinconsiderate\u201d parking of a man visiting a friend.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/newspress-collage-24610586-1698937107298.jpg\")
