Angel Adoree shares her tips for painting walls

1. Colour drenching

Johanna Constantinou trends expert at Tapi Carpets & Floors, said: “Colour drenching is a powerful interior design technique experiencing a 306 percent surge in searches over the past year.

“It offers a unique aesthetic, whether you’re aiming for a calm and harmonious atmosphere or a bold, vibrant statement. This method involves using a single colour or shades from the same family, setting the tone for your space.

“To incorporate colour drenching into your home, begin by selecting a dominant colour, then introduce varying shades to create depth. For example, if blue is your primary colour, incorporate lighter and darker blues for contrast.”

Britons can also add different textures and patterns such as textured fabrics, rugs or wallpapers.

2. Retro interiors

Retro interiors are a design trend which has gained momentum in the past month, offering a creative way to infuse nostalgia and unique character into the home.

Whether seeking a 1950s, 1960s or 1970s interior, this style enables people to celebrate the past in a personal way, according to the expert.

Johanna added: “To embrace this trend, start by selecting a specific decade, each boasting its distinct features. For example, if you opt for the 1970s, earthy muted tones, bold patterned furniture like shag carpeting, geometric coffee tables, and striped curtains are the key elements to consider.

“You can also enhance the aesthetic with vintage accessories such as lava lamps, rotary phones, retro artwork, vintage televisions, and classic retro clocks to add authenticity to the space.”

3. Velvet materials

According to the expert, another element which will be popular next year is velvet, with there already being lots of Google searches about the trend.

Known for its rich texture and plush feel, incorporating velvet into the home can give the space some “sophistication”.

The expert continued: “If you want to make a statement, introduce velvet through upholstered furniture such as sofas, armchairs, dining chairs, curtains, and bedding like headboards and duvet covers.

“However, if you want to introduce them as accents, then smaller elements such as pillows or throws are a better option.

“Since velvet comes in a wide range of colours, choose shades that complement your existing decor. Neutral tones like deep grey, navy, or rich jewel tones such as emerald green and royal blue are popular choices.”

4. Metallic gold finishes and accents

For anyone looking to make a statement, introducing metal accents through furniture like side tables is a great way to spruce up a living room or bedroom.

The expert also recommended chandeliers or lamps to act as focal points, or even mirrors and photo frames to add elegance.
